Gross Domestic Regeneration
What we regenerate
An economy is usually measured by what it produces. A growing conversation, from the UN's Beyond GDP work to the Gross Domestic Regeneration framework introduced in 2026, asks a second question: did this year's output leave the ocean, the land and the atmosphere in better or worse condition for next year? regenerate's output is built to answer yes.
The ledger
Three methodologies, three kinds of capital.
| Methodology | Runs on | Industrial return | What it regenerates |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCFS | Open-ocean shipping; empty return legs | A voyage that earns instead of costing; a compliance asset for shipping | CO2 removed from ocean water and returned to the sediment; durable storage at depth |
| DMS | Mandated mine closure and backfilling; waste biomass | Closure met at lower cost; biomass handled as a service | A mine void closed; biomass kept out of the air for 1,000 years; work in mining regions |
| MACS | Biomass logistics and storage | Storage service plus credits | Biomass carbon locked in anoxic basins |
How we count
Verified first. Reported per site.
Every removal is certified under an independent methodology (Puro.earth for MCFS and MACS, Isometric for DMS) with monitoring, reporting and verification built in. Alongside the tonnes, each site reports what it restored: cubic metres of void closed, tonnes of biomass diverted, voyage legs filled, carbon returned to the sediment.
What we do not claim
Precise about what we move.
regenerate does not publish a regeneration score for the company. The frameworks for that are still being built, and we would rather be precise about what we move than early with a number. We report what we can verify, at the level of the site and the tonne.
